It’s important to take into consideration the product’s weight and dimensions. These help to determine how hefty and sturdy the electric shaver is and how well it may stand damage. You should also remember that you may be holding this shaver for almost an hour, depending on the circumstance. A lightweight shaver is easier to hold than a heavy, bulky one.
I’m sure quite a few of you are wondering why we didn’t include the Philips Norelco 9700 and the Panasonic ES81095 in our list. While they’re both great electric shavers, these two products were actually disqualified for 2 major reasons.
They were too expensive!
While a few of our choices nicked at the $300 line, the Philips Norelco 9700 overshot it by a mile. Our goal or this article was to find the best electric shaver that were either affordable or worth the price. The Norelco was neither. So, sorry to say, it had to go.
They were not new user-friendly
While the Panasonic ES81095 is also a bit pricey, it’s actually the non-new user-friendly design that disqualified it. The Panasonic comes with a Cleaning & Charging station. However, both the shaver and station are incredibly frustrating to use if you’ve never had either before. The Philips Norelco 9700 is guilty of this, as well. It actually tends to fall apart, sometimes cutting you in the process. It’s very frustrating as you have no idea how to put it together without prior electric shaver experience.
1. Philips Norelco Shaver 4500 - Best Overall
Pivot, Flex, and Float System: This allows the Philips Norelco Shaver 4500 to bend and turn while following the curves of the face.
Dual Precision Shaving System: This attacks both long and short hair at the same time.
Popup Trimmer: The popup trimmer allows for a closer, detailed shave with each use.
The Philips Norelco 4500 is a lithium-ion battery powered rechargeable shaver. With a fully washable design, this electric shaver is safe for in-shower, foam, and wet-gel use. Its Pivot, Flex and Float System provides closer shaves better results.
The DualPrecision Shaving System attacks long hair until even the shortest stubble can’t remain. Its pop-up trimmer provides the ability to clean and shape side hair such as sideburns, mustaches, beards, and eyebrows.
After fully charging, the Philips Norelco 4500 lasts for a total of 50 minutes. That’s more time than you need for a close cut shave with smooth, comfortable results. Its low-friction blades are rounded and move slowly in a counter-clockwise direction to avoid pulling hair.
Its rounded design protects the skin from scarring and prevents the production of in-grown hair by smoothing as it cuts.
The Philips Norelco 4500 comes with the electric shaver, protection cap, power cord, cleaning brush. Its SH50/52 replacement blades can be purchased in-store or online for a low, affordable cost.
People tend to be a little off-put by the blade’s slow speeds. Normally, this would guarantee snags and irritation. However, the blades are rounded for less friction which helps to prevent pulling.
That said the motor is definitely less powerful than many other high-brand electric shavers. I don’t feel it affects the electric razor’s performance in an overly negative way.
What’s great about the Philips Norelco 4500 is that it comes with a 45 risk-free trial. It also comes with a 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. It’s important to note that this electric razor won’t run while charging.
Also, the manufacturer recommends that you switch out your blades every 12 months for sanitary reasons. Despite this, the Philips Norelco 4500 will provide you years of clean, stress-free shaving.
2. Remington Electric Razor F5-5800 - Best for Men
Pivot & Flex Technology: This provides a close shave that smoothly follows the shape of your face and body.
Intercepting Shaving technology: The impressive 3-stage shaving design effectively cuts all lengths of hair. It guarantees smooth, long lasting results.
Cordless & Corded design: This provides various charging options. It’s very helpful for traveling and vacations.
The Remington F5-5800 comes with a lithium-ion battery that can last days with one 50 minute charge. Its surgical steel blades are washable and are easy to clean. Simply rinse them under the faucet after every use to keep them sanitary and safe.
The Pivot & Flex Technology allows this electric razor to cut close to the base without cutting or irritating the skin. The foil is able to flex and bend to slip underneath the neck and other crevices for the best results. The Pop-up trimmer allows for perfect detail work on beards, eyebrows, mustaches, etc.
The Remington F5 comes with Intercepting Shaving technology with a 3-stage design. The first utilizes an intercepting tool for cutting thick, long hair until it’s shorter and more manageable.
Then the 2 flex foils come in to cut short stubs from the base for a smooth, soft finish.
Its LED lit display alerts you to any troubleshooting errors while keeping you informed of the battery level. Not only that, but one 50 minute charge guarantees up to 26 shaves. That saves you time and effort on long, stressful business trips or vacations.
While the Interception Shaving Technology is meant to prevent snags and clogs from thick hair, it struggles with shaggier beards. Sometimes the Remington F5 slows down or shuts off when used to shave super course hair.
That’s why it’s best to go in first with some shears. This will save you both time and money for a new shaver.
The Remington F5-5800 has both a cordless and corded design for versatility and convenience. Its 5-minute charge provides 1 quick shave for last minute use. It also comes with a 2-year warranty against product defects in material and workmanship. It’s a great electric shaver that can handle cold water, foam, gel, and really anything else you throw at it.
3. Panasonic ES8103S ARC3 - Best Under $100
Hypoallergenic: The hypoallergenic blades provide close shaves with smooth, soothing results. This is very helpful for those with sensitive skin.
Nanotech Blades: The nanotech blades and ARC foils cut cleanly through thick hair with ease.
10-stage LCD Digital Display: The 10-stage digital display constantly alerts users as to the electric shaver’s battery life and other issues.
The Panasonic ES8103S Men’s electric razor combines 3 sharp nanotech blades and thin ARC foils to cut through thick hair. Its ultra-powerful linear motor drive is capable of delivering 13,000 cuts per minute for fast effortless results.
The stainless steel ultra-blades reach up to a 30-degrees angle while the head, itself, pivots to follow the curves of your body. Hypoallergenic, the Panasonic ES8103S is one of the best electric shavers for sensitive skin.
Its multi-fit ARC blades are 3 independent, floating blades that closely cut along the edges of your skin. The Pop-up trimmer helps to add finishing details to your mustaches, beards, and even eyebrows.
Water-safe, the Panasonic ES8103S can handle wet gel, foam, or water. In fact, you can pair the sonic vibration with water to get smoother, fresher results.
You can even dry shave with this electric razor without worrying about skin irritation or ingrown hairs. Last but not least, it comes with a 10-stage LCD digital display along its base. This keeps you informed as to the battery life of the electric shaver. It also reminds you to clean it, as well as, when to charge it and to replace the foil and blades
There are two major issues with the Panasonic ES8103S: its foil mesh brakes easily and the LCD display is faulty. While purchasing new foil is rather cheap and easy to do, it’s not something you necessarily want to do all the time. However, on particularly shaggy hair or rough skin, the foil mesh tends to dent, bend and break easily. It gets very frustrating very quickly.
Meanwhile, the LCD display sometimes freezes or reports that you have more charge than you really do. This will sometimes lead to the Panasonic ES8103S to suddenly shut down while in use. Again, this is a very frustrating issue.
The Panasonic ES8103S is a great electric shaver that offers a wide variety of features. While it does still have a few kinks to work out, its shaving quality is still one of the best on our list.
Along with a 2-year warranty, this shaver comes with a foil cover, a travel pouch, and a rechargeable AC adapter. I believe that the Panasonic ES8103S definitely deserves a closer look.
4. Braun CoolTec CT5CC - Best for Sensitive Skin
Clean & Charge Station: The Cleaning & Charging station is a charger that also uses alcohol to disinfect your shaver. It then dries it with a series of built-in fans.
Active Cleaning Technology: The active cleaning technology uses an electro-ceramic cooling system to soothe your skin mid-shave.
SensoBlade: This guarantees that all strands of hair, even flat lying, are cut cleanly along the base for a smooth, soft finish.
The Braun CoolTec CT5CC comes with an all-in-1 complementary kit. Included are the electric shavers, the Clean & Charge Station, cleaning cartridge, charging cradle, travel pouch, SmartPlug, and cleaning brush.
This electric shaver’s Active Cleaning Technology is able to cool the sensitive skin while you shave. This is due to the built-in electro-ceramic cooling system which reduces irritation. Its adaptable 3-stage cutting design provides a closer and smoother cut than most brands.
Meanwhile, the SensoBlade feature locates and captures hair growing in opposite directions. This allows for a smooth cut and helps prevent tugging, irritation, and ingrown hair.
Waterproof and washable, the Braun CoolTech CT5CC is great for both dry and wet shaving. It recharges in less than an hour and can provide you a total of 45 minutes of shaving and 15 minutes of cooling.
Its precision long hair trimmer is great for tackling thick, course beards for smooth, soft results. What’s most impressive is the Clean & Charge Station. This uses an alcohol-based product to rid up to 99.9 percent of germs. Meanwhile, it charges the electric shaver and prepares it for its next use. It’s also lemon scented
You may like also to know how to grow a bear faster.
While the Braun CoolTech CT5CC is not the most expensive electric shaver on the list, it’s definitely not the cheapest. Nearing almost $200, this electric razor is a bit costly for a shaver. However, you truly get what you pay for with this product.
It’s recommended that you don’t use any gel or foam while shaving with the Braun CoolTech CT5CC. This is because they would act as a thermal insulator with the Active Cleaning Technology. You should replace the blade every 18 months and consider cleaning the shaver with the Station twice a week.
Dynaflex technology: This patented technology allows the electric shaver to flex and bend smoothly along the curves of your body.
Hypoallergenic Foil: This promises a rash and bump-free shave, even for individuals with sensitive skin.
The Wahl Professional 8061-100 comes in as one of the most durable electric shavers on our list. Coated with hypoallergenic foil, it’s safe for those with sensitive skin. It comes with a both a cord and cordless option. Its lithium-ion battery is capable of running up to 30 minutes with a 1-hour charge.
Along with an appealing aesthetic design, the wall professional comes with a wide assortment of accessories.
These include a foil guard, the AC charger, a cleaning brush, and an operating manual.
Albeit a bit simple, the Wahl Professional 8061-100 is capable of running on 120 volts/60 hertz. Surprisingly lightweight, this electric shaver is easy to handle and maneuver for close cut shaves.
Although it does not handle dry shaves, it can be used for wet shaves with foam, water, or get. Its patented Dynaflex technology provides the ability to flex and bend smoothly along the counters of a face. Its Pop-up trimmer comes in handy for adding detail and trimming edges into beards, mustaches, eyebrows, and more
The downside to the Wahl Professional 8062-100 is that the Pop-up trimmer doesn’t work as well as advertised. Sometimes the trimmer pops out of its casing and refuses to go back in.
Sometimes it gets jammed and you can’t get it out. It’s a crab shoot with the tiny shaver. It just proves that even the best products still have a few bugs to work out.
Overall, the Wahl Professional 8062-100 is a low-cost product with high-quality results. In fact, it may be the cheapest electric shaver on our list. Not only that, but it comes with a 1-year warranty against product defects in material and workmanship.
So, if something happens, feel comfortable knowing that it can easily be replaced or refunded.
6. Panasonic ES-LA63-S - 4-Blade
Popup Trimmer: The built-in popup trimmer provides the ability for simple touchup and detail work in beards, mustaches, and even eyebrows.
Multi-Flex Pivotal Head: This means that the Panasonic ES-LA63-S bends in any angle and direction for optimal results.
Hypoallergenic Stainless Steel Foil: This means that the electric shaver features a stainless steel foil that’s both sturdy and soothing. It’s perfect for individuals with thick, course hair and sensitive skin.
The Men’s Pansonic ES-LA63-S is a dual-motor, 4-blade electric shaver that’s capable of up to 14,000 cuts per minute. It features micro-thin, stainless steel foils for cutting hair stumble at the base for a smooth, soft finish.
Hypoallergenic, it supports sensitive skin and avoids irritation and reddening.
The nanotech blades are capable of bending at a 30-degree angle for following the contours of the body. The Multi-Flex Pivotal Head ensures a smooth, even finish wherever used. It can even be used for both dry and wet shaves with foam, gel, or water.
The Pansonic ES-LA63-S utilizes slit foals to capture random hairs while cutting at an angle along their base. This guarantees a soft finish with minimal tugging, pulling, and skin irritation.
The 10-stage LCD display alerts users as to the amount of battery power left. It also reminds them when to clean the electric shaver, as well as, switch out the foil and the blade. It also comes with a Pop-up trimmer for adding fine details to your mustache, beard, eyebrows, and more.
Like the Panasonic ES8103S, the ES-LA63-S experiences faults in the LCD display along its side. Sometimes the screen goes black and sometimes it just freezes or gives you the wrong results.
If you experience, it helps to turn it on and off. If this doesn’t help the situation, try calling customer service for advice.
Overall, the Panasonic ES-LA63-S works as well as you’d expect a Panasonic product to work. It does not disappoint with its abundance of additional features that help to simply the shaving experience.
Its Multi-fit and Multi-flex design truly does a wonderful job at following the curves of the body for a smooth cut. It’s an electric razor that deserves a closer look.
7. Philips Norelco 1250X/40 - SensoTouch 3D Electric Razor
SkinGlide: The SkinGlide feature provides a near friction-less shave. This prevents bumps, burns, and cuts.
GyroFlex 3D contouring: This feature provides close precision shaving with a fully flexible electric shaver head.
Popup Trimmer: The built-in popup trimmer provides the ability for simple touchup and detail work in beards, mustaches, and even eyebrows.
The Philips Norelco 1250x/40 is possibly one of the most well-known electric shavers on our list. With GyroFlex 3D contouring, it’s able to follow the lines and curves of the face without adding pressure or irritation.
Its UltraTrack head captures 50% more skin and hair than any other leading electric razor. The Patented Lift & Cut dual-blades are capable of cutting hair at the very base, near skin level.
Not only that, but the AquaTec Seal means that it’s safe for both dry and wet shaves. That means that you can use the Philips Norelco in the shower, with gel, or foam.
The SkinGlide feature promises low-friction shaves for smoother, softer results with each use. For optimal control, the Philips Norelco has a comfortable, ergonomic grip for no slips or mistakes. It also features a Pop-up trimmer along its base for detail work and precision.
Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery charges in under an hour for 50 minutes of continuous use. Also, it’s able to handle 100 to 240 volts for convenience and versatility. The Philips Norelco 1250x/40 is a wonderful, high-quality item for any experienced electric razor owner.
The major fault of the Philips Norelco 1250x/40 is that the replacement heads are made of poor quality material. For most individuals, this electric razor tends to last roughly 3 years before needing a new replacement head.
However, the manufacturer suggests you switch out the head every 18 months. The problem with this is that the new replacement head that is paired with the Norelco 1250x/40 is fairly faulty.
It sometimes falls off and is incredibly dull. It doesn’t help that the Norelco 1250x/40 is considered one of our more expensive electric shavers on our list.
Despite its high cost, the Philips Norelco 1250x/40 is a great product with a variety of exceptional features and accessories.
Along with everything else, this electric shaver comes with a 2-year warranty against product defects in materials and workmanship. So, if it happens to malfunction for any qualified reason, feel free to return it for a replacement or your money back.
8. Panasonic ES-LV81-K - Best Value
Lift-Tech Foil System: The Lift-Tech Foil System utilizes 5 ARC foils for a closer and smoother shave. This is due to the reverse-tapered edges which lift flattened hair before cutting them cleanly along their base.
Automatic Premium Cleaning & Charging Station: The complimentary charging station cleans and sanitizes your electric shaver while preparing it for its next use.
Multi-Flex pivoting head: This guarantees a close shave along the contours of your face.
The Panasonic ES-LV81-K ARC5 is a high-quality electric shaver that features hypoallergenic blades capable of 14,000 cuts per minute. This is due to the shaver’s rapid fire linear motor that works fast while efficiently trimming stubborn hair.
Its stainless steel blades convert into a 30-degree angle sharp, clean cuts along the base of even the shortest stubble.
The Multi-Flex pivoting head tilts forwards and backward 25-degrees and side-to-side at 20-degree angles. This allows for comfortable maneuvering under the jaw and along the sides of the face. Washable, this electric shaver is safe for both wet and dry shaves.
The Panasonic ES-LV81-K comes with an Automatic Premium Cleaning & Charging Station. This cleans and recharges the electric shaver after every use, preparing it for the next day.
What’s really impressive is the Lift-Tech Foil System. 5 different ARC5 foils help to provide a smooth, close shave.
The first in the system is the Quick-Comb Blade which is angled in order to cut long, thick strands. The Lift Foil uses reverse-tapered edges to lift flattened strands. The Finishing foil comes in to cut stubborn stubble for a smooth finish.
Although the Panasonic ES-LV81-K seems invincible, it’s really not. This electric razor’s fatal weakness seems to be thick, coarse hair. This is extremely disappointing for kinky-haired individuals like me.
The Panasonic ES-LV81-K tends to snag on long strands of coarse hair, leading to tugging and a little pain.
In terms of features, the Panasonic ES-LV81-K is by far the most heavily accessorized electric shaver on our list. While its price is a bit daunting, the shaver is well worth it.
This electric razor also comes with a Pop-up trimmer for the detailed shaving of mustaches, beards, eyebrows, and goatees. The 10-stage LCD display continuously alerts the user as to when the blades need replaced and the shaver needs charged.
Last but not least, this electric shaver comes with a 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
9. Braun Series 9-9095cc - Best Budget
HyperLift & Cut Trimmer: This captures and cuts flat lying hair for a smooth, soft shave.
SyncronicTM: This uses 4 separate blades to cut up to 40,000 strands per minute.
OptiFoil™: This provides a closer, smoother shave with better results.
Its MultiHead Lock Precision Shave feature allows the head to tilt at 5 different angles. This helps the shaver adjust for the twists and bends necessary in a close shave. It’s safe for both wet and dry shaves, meaning that it can be used with gel, foam, or water. It also has a 1 hour charging time with a 50-minute lifespan for long usage.
The downside to the Braun Series 9-9095cc is definitely its price. Just shy of $300, this electric shaver is the most expensive razor on our list. No surprise, considering all the features it had to offer.
However, I have to admit that any other product on our list can work just as well. Definitely not with as many complementary accessories that cut down shaving time. But in terms of final results, you could save a couple hundred and purchase a cheaper shaver, instead.
With a chic, dark, chARCoal-like casing, the Braun Series 9-905cc is an attractive looking product. Not only that, but it offers a multitude of features that can make your grooming routine a momentary process.
With a 2-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, the Braun Series 9-905cc electric shaver is an all-in-one product.
OptiFoil™: This provides a closer, smoother shave with better results.
Cleaning & Charging Station: The cleaning & charging station charges your electric shaver while sanitizing and drying it.
The Braun Series 7 790cc comes in with a unique personal shaving experience. Equipped with MultiSpeed Technology, it has a rapid cutting mode for coarse hair and a slow mode for sensitive skin. Its 8-D contour adaptation allows the shaver head to bend for closer shaves and better control.
The Smart Shaver design is truly impressive as it can automatically sense and adapt to different hair types. This technology allows for the shaver to sense denser areas within your beard and automatically adjust by applying more speed.
Waterproof of up to 5 meters, this electric shaver can be used with foam, gel, and even in the shower.
The Braun Series 7 790cc comes with a Charging & Cleaning station that uses alcohol to sanitize your shaver.
It’s an incredibly powerful shaver that uses a 4-blade system to capture facial hair without causing irritation. Its 2X OptiFoil is capable of cutting up to 0.05mm in length. This means that it’s perfect for clearing out that stubborn stubble for a softer, smoother finish. The ActiveLift Trimmer lifts flat-laying strands of hair and cuts it along the base for a thorough trimming.
The frustrating thing about the Braun Series 7 790cc is the shaver head. The 4-blade shaver head actually costs around $85.00 to replace, which can quickly become a costly investment. It’s typically recommended that you replace your head once every 18 months or so.
However, there are quite a few customer reviews suggesting that you could stretch that out to 3 years. It’s really up to you and how well your head holds up.
In all, the Braun Series 7 790cc comes equipped with the shaver, the Charging & Cleaning station, a cleaning cartridge, and travel case. It’s a thorough kit that provides everything an experienced or novice shaver could need.
This electric shaver is a one of a kind product that’s guaranteed to last you at least 7 years of grooming perfection.
Electric Shavers – Buyers Guide
Before choosing our top 10 electric shavers of 2017, we set up a list of parameters for eligibility. We used this to weed out low-quality electric shavers.
The general categories that we decided on included shaving performance, ease of maintenance, portability, and price vs. worth. We then recruited a group of volunteers to test each final list product and rate their experience within each category.
Testing lasted for a week and from our results and feedback, we were able to compose the various product reviews. Here’s a little more information about what we tested for:
At the end of testing, we asked our volunteers how well their shaver performed, overall. We asked that they rate how well it shaved without clogging, cutting, or tugging. How often the electric shaver died during shaving or how often they had to recharge it. Another point we looked out for was the final results. In this, we asked that each volunteer shaves like they normally would. Did this cause burns or an increase of ingrown hair. How well did the electric shaver perform in a dry shave vs. wet shave? These questions and answers came together provide an idea of who would profit more or less from purchasing that shaver.
Ease of Maintenance
In this category, we simply asked our volunteers how well they maintained their shaver. How often did they have to clean their shaver? As well as, how quickly did it get dirty? For electric shavers that came with a cleaning station, we asked how well the station worked. How quickly did the shaver charge and how long did it hold the charge? Most importantly, we tried to compare the responses between those with a station vs. non-station participants. Our hope was to determine rather or not a station was worth the extra costs. We seemed to receive mixed responses with that question. Overall, this section was meant to determine how much extra time and money would be necessary to maintain the electric shaver. We also wanted to determine its reliability vs. its lifespan.
We questioned our volunteers about how portable they felt the electric shaver was. By portable, we meant how small and compact they were. Were they too small? Did they come with a traveling case? What about their charging station? Did they offer an AC cord, in case the station was too large to take on vacations? These little details are important for determining how well you can bring the electric shavers on trips.
In this category, we asked if our volunteers noticed anything that they liked about their electric shaver. We then tried to identify if that was actually an additional feature for the electric shaver. The Pop-up trimmer and charging station were very popular features as they were the most noticeable. However, the Lifting blades were noticed as being fairly handy, as well as, Braun’s Cooling System.
The goal in this section was to find out which feature stood out as a handy addition. Which are appreciated, disliked, or unnecessary? Overall, we wanted to know if certain shavers offered features that helped them stand out from others on our list.
Price vs. Worth
Finally, we ended by asking our volunteers how expensive they felt their electric shavers were. Before this, we hadn’t told them which shaver they had or how much it had cost. Surprisingly, many volunteers guessed along the $300-$400 range. Because we had ruled out $300 electric shavers, the volunteers were honestly surprised by the actual prices. We then asked why they felt it should cost more than $300.
In this section, we hoped to learn the volunteer’s overall impression of their electric shaver. This is more than just performance because it combines all of the previous categories, including attractiveness. Was the electric shaver worth the price? Most importantly, it begged the question ‘Would you purchase this electric shaver, again?’ Surprisingly, the answer to this varied from ‘yes’ and ‘I would purchase (a different volunteer’s) electric shaver.’
Electric Shavers – FAQ
What is an Electric Razor?
Electric razors (shavers) are electronic devices that use rotating blades behind either a comb or foil to cut hair. While foam, water, or gel is not needed to shave, they’re often used for comfort or sanitary reasons. Electric shavers can run on either electricity or rechargeable batteries. There are 2 types of electric razors: rotary and foil.
Rotary Shavers vs. Foil Shavers
Rotary shavers use 3-4 rotating shaving heads to trim hair quickly and efficiently. They’re great for individuals with fast growing facial hair or thick hair in general. They offer very solid, sturdy designs. Rotary shavers should be used in a rotating, circular fashion. However, those with sensitive skin or detail-oriented hairstyles (goatees, sideburns, etc.) may want to avoid rotary shavers.
Foil shavers use a thin layer of foil to cover the rotating blades. This is softer on the skin while providing better hair lift for closer cuts. Foil shavers are perfect for individuals with sensitive skin as they limit blade to skin contact. Fool shavers should be used in straight lines. The downside to foil shavers, however, is that they don’t typically offer pivotal heads. This can be frustrating for those who have angular facial structures with contours.
There’s really no “better” type of shaver. It really comes down to personal preference. Those who have thick, fast growing hair and no time for detail work, consider purchasing a rotary shaver. Individuals who would like a close shave with firm cuts, or who have sensitive skin, should consider a Foil shaver.
How often should you replace your Electric Shaver?
It’s typically recommended that you replace your electric shaver head once every 12 to 18 months. As for the shaver, itself, it really depends on you and the shaver. Some electric shavers can last years, ranging from 5 to 10. Others may last less, such as 1, 2, or even a few months. It really depends on the brand, the durability, and how well you maintain and care for your electric shaver.
What’s recommended for African Americans?
As an African American, I personally know how frustrating our hair can be. Our hair is very curly and tends to curl back into the skin, causing ingrown hair, bumps, and razor burns.
African American men typically have extremely sensitive skin that can be downright terrible to take care of. That’s why we have to choose our electric shavers wisely. Rather it’s rotary or foil shavers, the only thing you need to worry about are these 3 rules…
· Keep your shaver clean: Consider purchasing a shaver that comes with a cleaning and charging station. This will prevent infections from ingrown hairs.
· Keep your shaver sharp: This means replacing the blade often. Look out for electric shavers that have cheap replacement blades or blades that need replaced less often.
· Cleanse and Cream: Find a high-quality cleanser and creamer for your sensitive skin. Also, find an electric shaver that wet shaves with foam, water, gel, or cream.
Finally, the best shavers on our list for African Americans are Wahls, Brauns, and Panasonic.
Why do you get cuts?
Everybody gets cut. That’s a fact of life. But if you keep getting cut, try this:
· Exfoliate beforehand: Just wash your face with a men’s exfoliating cream or gel before shaving. This will avoid cuts and provide a closer shave
· Use a better shaving cream: this will provide a thick layer between your skin and the blade. It will also lubricate it and soothe it for a lasting fresh feeling.
· Get a new blade: Think. How long has it been since you replaced that blade? Dull blades sometimes tear at the skin, causing, not only cuts but also burns and bumps. Pay a little extra and get a new blade.
Electric shavers vs. Disposable shavers
Best Bang for your Buck
Electric shavers come in many shapes and sizes while offering a wide range of features. Before purchasing any electric razor you should consider which feature works best with your skin and hair type. I recommend that you consider how the shaver will fit into your routine. Do you usually wet shave or dry shave? Are foams, gels, and creams a part of your grooming routine? Do you need special shaving gel for sensitive skin? How often are you willing to pay for new heads? Most importantly, how much are you willing to spend?
For those of you plastic shaver users, an electric shaver may seem like a costly investment. However, I assure you that it’s one that’s worth every penny. If decide to purchase an electric shaver from our list, I encourage you to write a review about your experience. How well did it work? Was there anything you loved about it? How about hated? Would you recommend this electric shaver to a friend?
